While the hardwood floors were being refinished, I took advantage of being banned from the main house by cleaning the garage and shed from rafters to concrete.

What went well?

I had no shame — I donned eye protection, heavy gardening gloves, and a breathing mask before starting. This saved my eyes from falling debris, my hands from wear and detritus, and my lungs from allergies.

What could have been better?

Overhead, I started with sweeping and later used a ShopVac. Next time, I’d go straight to the ShopVac.

Takeaways?

Don’t leave sawdust laying around. In fact, maybe I’ll take the saw outside. The previous owners left sawdust in the shed [see photo] and something was nesting in it. Note the sunflower seed husks? I was incredibly allergic to this area and I painted it with bleach water after I removed the debris.
