I’m so tired from today’s work that I’m simply going to post photos and let them speak for themselves. ;P
The following photos show Before+During+After…
Before: view of the raised beds.
During: I’ve finished whacking weeds.
After: I covered the second bed with landscaping fabric.
Before: view of the second bed.
During: starting to see some shape.
After: covered up. Since I didn’t turn the soil before covering, I’m not sure what this will do to the plants beneath. Fingers crossed that they die out.
Here’s During+After:
During: This is the alley behind the 3rd bed, to illustrate how tall things are.
After: all trimmed up!
Here’s a bunch of After:
After: I pulled a bunch of straw out of the chicken coop. I won’t have birds and don’t want insects growing in the straw. I’m not sure what to do with the poop-covered paper lining, so I’m leaving it for now.
After: here’s inside the hen house with its little stalls for the ladies. I removed a lot of straw.
After: here’s the side of the hen house after I removed debris and cut grass.
After: behind the 2nd shed after I removed debris and cut branches.
After: between the coop and the shed, I pulled dirt away from shed siding. The space is narrow so it was tough.
After: I pulled away dirt on this side of the 1st shed. Siding is absolutely rotten. It’s softer than the mud. Looks like I’d need to replace it.
After: I loaded all organic yard debris on this black tarp and dragged it around. I did a lot! And the pile is mostly straw.
I have two questions that I’m too tired to figure out right now.
First, I didn’t remove the stems/debris that I weed whacked. I left them where they fell. I like the idea of leaving them to block out new growth. But I’m concerned about the cut plants spreading undesired seeds because I’ve left them there. Suggestions?
Second, … ugh, I forgot my question already. My brain is so sleepy! When it comes to mind, I’ll add it.
Wow! What a great amount of work you’ve accomplished whack’n those weeds! It looks really nice. And, I might note, since you’ve already gotten tomorrow’s project completed (Posted as May 29th’s work completed today, Sunday 5/28/17) then I say it’s a good bet that this is an omen! Looks to me like you deserve a day of rest…or at least taking it easy! 😀 PS: Your blog is a great idea!

LOL, thank you! Good catch on the post date, maybe I’m set to the wrong time zone or something. I’m kicking back with a movie. Giving my arms a break so they can transform from jelly back into muscle. ;P

You have a LOT of weeds to wack! If you stay on top of things it will be easier to wack…getting taller makes it harder to cut. Weeds do not wait for you!

LOL, so true, they do NOT wait! I had to get over my apprehension of owning a gas-powered gizmo. Now that I’ve started and I have a contraption that whacks, I can keep up.
